P51 Dart – Motor and Servo installation

In the previous posts I showed you how I build the main body of the P51 Dart RC airplane. The next steps in the build are installing the motor and the servo. Read more below…

For the motor I cut a small piece of plywood so that I screw the motor on it.

Gluing the motor to the fuselage is easy. The main body and the wings match up and form a nice solid base to mount the motor on. I use a lot of hot-glue to ensure a strong connection between the foam and the plywood.

Next I cut some holders out of foam that will help to mount the servos. I then use a bit of hot-glue on the mounting taps of the servo to connect it to the foam bracket.

Finally I glue the bracket with the servo on to the fuselage

The next step will be connecting everything up. I’ll install the ESC and the receiver as well as the battery. After balancing everything correctly the plane will be ready for a maiden flight.
